Lowering dosage in weekends

The most effective way of reducing its tolerance is to lower the dosage. Weekends are the most feasible days for the operation to be introduced in one’s life. As there is no important work which requires enhanced cognitive functioning, one can lower the dosage on the weekends. This is bound to reduce the overall tolerance in the body.

Taking magnesium supplements

Some research studies show that people suffering from ADHD have generally low levels of magnesium. Magnesium supplements can be taken to reduce the symptoms of ADHD, thus lowering the need for Adderall. A candy or two every half an hour will help maintain the blood glucose levels after the consumption of magnesium supplements. This will lead to a much greater efficiency of the supplement.

Try switching Adderall with other ADHD meds for a short while

Another efficient way of lowering the tolerance is to take another drug from the same category which works in a similar fashion. Modafinil is a drug which is not a substitute for Adderall, but can be used for short spans of time to lower the tolerance of Adderall. However, a consultation with a general practitioner should ideally precede such tampering of dosage.

Drinking green tea

The efficiency of Adderall is increased if it is coupled with L-Theanine which is found in Green Tea! Around seven to eight cups of green tea paced throughout the day will keep Adderall working at its strongest and will ensure that the body does not crave for more.

Consuming a lot of food

One especially needs to increase the intake of complex carbohydrates and proteins as they take longer to digest. Research shows that a carbohydrate and protein laden diet allows Adderall compounds to stay in the body for up to 40% longer!

Although the best way to reduce tolerance to any drug is to stop taking the medicine completely, however, with Adderall, the situation is a bit different. With a high-dependency rate of the drug, it is usually not considered safe to lower one’s tolerance by completely stopping the medicine, especially if the person has developed a physical dependency on the drug as it leads to severe withdrawal symptoms. The only doctor-verified solution presently is the slow lowering of the dosage. However, it is not suggested that it be self-prescribed. Rather, a proper medical consultation needs to be preceded before tampering with the dosage to manage tolerance levels. A doctor may either suggest a medical detoxification or may even propose going to a rehabilitation facility if the tolerance level becomes too high.
